The Riverbend Chapter of the National Latin Honor Society will be affiliated with both organizations which recognize outstanding achievement in Latin:

• National Latin Honor Society, sponsored by the National Junior Classical League
• National Latin Honor Society, sponsored by the Association for the Promotion of Study of Latin

Officers:

• 2010-2011: Tia Conkright, President, and Jannah Babasa, Secretary
• 2008-2010: Amanda Haislip, President, and Christiann McNew, Secretary

The Latin Honor Society. which functions as a subdivision of the Latin Club, is governed by a charter. Members of the RHS Latin Honor Society approved amendments to its charter in May 2011.

INAUGURAL MEETING SET
The first meeting of the Riverbend Chapter of the National Latin Honor Society will be held on Wednesday, February 4 at 2:30 in the Latin Room. The organization of the society will be discussed and acted upon. See Mr. Keith for more information. (1/11/09)

We Have Lift-off! Eleven Inducted into National Latin Honor Society

Ashley, Christopher, Tia, Garrett, Lexie, Kelsey, Amanda, and Christiann pose for a shot soon after receiving their certificates, becoming the first officially-inducted members of the Riverbend Chapter of the National Latin Honor Society. The first induction ceremony for all language honor societies at RHS was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. (12/10/08)
 

Past history of the Riverbend National Latin Honor Society:

• On Tuesday, February 22, 2005, the RHS Latin Honor Society was created at a meeting of interested and eligible members. These members determined the purpose and scope of this organization, its place within the Latin Club, affiliation, eligibility to be become a member, and eligibility to remain a member.
• On Thursday, March 1, 2007, the charter for the RHS National Latin Honor Society was approved, by unanimous vote, at a regular meeting of the RHS Latin Club. The charter for this subset of the RHS Latin Club was unanimously approved by the membership at the March 1 meeting. Maximas gratias to Nikki Carroll and Toni Carroll for their efforts in crafting our charter and working to make this honor society come alive. The organization is now officially open and ready for business.

• AMANDA, CHRISTIANN NAMED FIRST NLHS OFFICERS (February 2009)
  Amanda Haislip and Christiann McNew were elected president and secretary respectively at Riverbend's very first National Latin Honor Society meeting. The charter for this brand new branch of the Latin Club was reviewed and future activities discussed.

• On March 8, 2011, members of the RHS Latin Honor Society discussed and approved amendments to its charter reflecting the new 10-point grading scale. Clarification was also made regarding membership by induction and the term of office for its officers.
